FROM THE ASSESSOR, Sabine Geiger

I have been working with Katja for a few years on her journey towards certification. I enjoyed Katja’s dedication and perseverance towards her vision of sharing Nonviolent Communication (NVC) as a Certified Trainer. Katja worked very hard to make her inner processes and transformations visible and to point towards her shifts in daily life. I appreciate her willingness to show up over and over again to receive feedback and integrate it into her sharing as well as her personal life.

Connecting empathically is one of Katja’s strengths, and I trust that she will be able to pass on the importance of that to everybody she is in touch with, personally as well as professionally. Katja also shares NVC in the healthcare profession; there, focusing on empathic connections is an essential contribution. I am looking forward to Katja’s contributions in the Dutch trainer network and beyond.

From Katja:

My journey started in 2009, when my mom gave me a book, written by Justine Mol: Aufwachsen in Vertrauen. NVC fascinated me right away, because it gave me understanding that connected to my heart and gave me a language to connect to my children, my husband and other people in a new more nourishing way. From there I started reading and joining workshops and year courses to learn more on NVC. I actually found it pretty difficult to integrate into my way of communicating, because I was still very much thinking in right and wrong and was afraid to “make mistakes”. And several of the concepts were so opposite to how I had “learned” it, that integrating them gave me quite some challenges. I tell my participants, that I think that I am good at sharing NVC, because it was pretty hard to learn for me and I stepped into all the traps. ;-)

The only thing that came almost naturally to me was empathic listening. There I am grateful again to my mom, who modeled to me how to accept people just as they are. It is such a gift to me, when someone trusts me and let me visit their “inner island” and cherish the wonders I discover, when I try to see their world with their eyes. My certification process I experienced as hard work. I struggled to find a way to write the journal that was both personally meaningful and effectively communicated my strengths, challenges, and inner work to my Assessor. On my journey I found the two candidate weaves I attended very nourishing and supportive.

I am grateful for the support I received not only from my Assessor Sabine Geiger and my mentor Susanne Kraft, but also from other candidates, Assessors and certified and not certified colleagues. Me and three other candidates co-created together with our Assessors an assessment celebration for us and the participants, where we could share so much inspiration, care and acknowledgment for each other. I am full of gratitude, love, and celebration.

FROM THE ASSESSOR, Sabine Geiger

I am very happy that I got to work with Ido. His serious way of examining everything very carefully through the lens of his amazing mind has been fascinating to accompany. It contributed to many joint explorations—challenging as well as enlightening. Ido has a very structured way of going about things, and it has been a pleasure to witness his opening to a more emotional approach and the integration of that in his life and his teaching. I love how he integrated Miki Kashtan’s core commitments into his exploration of NVC and in his portfolio.

Ido grew up in Israel, and it touched me deeply to hear about the way he holds the Israel-Palestine conflict with all its inner dilemmas. If we could all hold it the way he does, the world would be a different place. I have great hope to see Ido join our trainer community and see him continuing to be the change we want to see.

From ido:

I discovered Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in 2010, but it wasn't until 2018 that I had my "Aha" moment. I was participating in Thom Bond's Compassion Course, and all kinds of surprising shifts started to happen in how I relate to myself and others. The compassion and creativity I experienced inspired me to want to learn and embody NVC as much as I possibly can. After more and more learning, I started teaching small workshops and facilitating workplace conflicts.

Between the summer of 2020 and the winter of 2024, I was a Certification Candidate. I used this period to take the time to "geek out" on various approaches to NVC. Some of my inspirations are BodyNVC, Restorative Circles, and Miki Kashtan's Core Nonviolence Commitments. I also got a chance to support peace activists from Israel-Palestine with NVC. I'm grateful for these experiences.

FROM THE ASSESSOR, Sabine Geiger

I really enjoy the way Eva holds and teaches Nonviolent Communication (NVC). I experience a deep, humble connection to compassion and acceptance in her. It may not always come easy and yet there is a strong dedication to the practice of focusing on awareness and inner work. I experience Eva as diligent and precise. That applies to the way she explores her inner movements as well as to the way she explores NVC.

She tends to look from all different angles at all the different aspects of NVC and of life. And she does so with a lot of commitment to coming back to a focus on the beauty in every experience. Eva works in a large multinational institution and has worked very hard to create openness to being able to introduce NVC in her work place. By now, she has offered multiple trainings, is collaborating with colleagues and is inviting other trainers to the organization.

I have also witnessed her living a different way of holding power in another organization where she has a leadership position. I am impressed by the way Eva is able to use mind maps and other written material to share NVC. She uses varied modalities to include different learning styles for the people she works with. I trust that Eva will bring a lot of change in her professional as well as her personal life and am looking forward to witness more of her impact in different places.

From Eva-Maria:

My journey with NVC started in 2001, when a friend recommended to read Marshall Rosenberg's book "Nonviolent Communication - A Language of Life". I was intrigued. Shortly afterwards, I had the chance to attend one of Marshall’s two-day conferences introducing NVC in Stuttgart. I got hooked on NVC with an exercise on gratitude. So far, gratitude had been more of an automatic mechanism in me, like a little soldier, saying “thank you” following an order to do so. Now for the first time in my life I felt the intensity of gratitude.

Ever since I followed NVC training. I went through the usual pitfalls of NVC “by the book”, causing allergic reactions to NVC around me. An eye-opener was the concept of beauty of needs by Robert Gonzales. I attended practice groups and started my own one. After having recovered from the effects of terrorist attacks in Brussels in 2016, I decided to launch myself as a trainer. I wanted to contribute to more peace in the world.

I brought NVC training into my workplace and started offering my own courses. In 2017, during the LEE Lab (7-day Life-enriching Education Laboratory), I decided to go for certification. It took me quite some time to find an Assessor who suited me, partly also because some were not taking new candidates. Attending the mentoring and assessment days inspired me to deepen my knowledge about NVC to be able to teach it in the quality I had experienced with certain teachers.

FROM THE ASSESSORS, LAURENCE BRUSCHWEILER Vinciane Marliere

We appreciate Nathalie's ability to transmit Nonviolent Communication (NVC) with clarity and simplicity and by living the link with the trainees in equivalence. She has been developing the NVC Mediation School for years and her dream is now to offer NVC to the world of Justice.

From Nathalie:

[EN] My journey goes back to the early 2000s when I discovered NVC. It was the approach I had been searching for a long time, and this art of being and living profoundly changed my reality. It was first in my professional life as a business lawyer that I dared to put it into practice, as I gained a deeper understanding of the dynamics of power relations and power struggles. After completing my three basic modules, I wanted to enter the certification process to bring more meaning to my life, but at that time, it was suspended.

Passionate about the role of the third party and eager to deepen my integration of NVC, I trained in NVC mediation at the École des Médiateurs CNV, and everything became clear to me: the role of a mediator using Nonviolent Communication is a life stance dedicated to unity beyond dualities. I joined the team of Certified Trainers at the School of Mediators (École des Médiateurs) to share my knowledge with them and begin developing my practice as a mediator. This rich and enlightening experience played a key role in my journey, as it was after more than 10 years of hands-on experience that I finally entered the Certification Process and completed my RAP 3 in January 2022.

This was an opportunity to solidify both a personal and professional stance, integrating Émergence, the CNV Mediator Training Institute founded in 2018, into the NVC network to strengthen connections and cooperation. I experienced the Certification Process as a gift: it allowed me to validate both my skills and my way of being, helped me find my place within the network as an NVC mediator, and made me feel fully legitimate as a peace-builder.

Today, after 18 years of personal and professional development with NVC, I can see just how much my relationships with others have changed. It is probably in my relationships with my loved ones that I am most amazed by the transformation, as I now experience deep, authentic, and fulfilling connections beyond anything I could have imagined. For me, time was essential for a gentle, refined, and subtle integration of this art of living, and I enjoy observing how NVC continues to infuse within me, supporting the “organic” growth of my being in service of relationships. This adventure is infinite. Gratitude!

Gratitude !

FROM THE ASSESSOR, Edith Sauerbier

I have known Nathalie for several years. We met in person before Covid and during the pandemic, we stayed in contact via Zoom. She lives in Tuscany, Italy, close to Bergamo. (The city was in the news because of situations in hospitals with a lot of dead people. Italy had strict lockdowns for several months, and schools were closed for nearly two years.) Nathalie was born in Tel Aviv and lived in Israel for two decades of her life. Her origin family lives in Israel. These small notes can give a hint of what she was and still is going through after 07-Oct-2023. She was in Israel at the time, visiting her family with her two teenage daughters.

How she dealt and is dealing with the situation has my highest respect. I can witness stamina, strength, empathy, and compassion. At her assessment, she shared with us her insights on how to deal with panic attacks of teenagers using Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and trauma therapy expertise. As we asked her if she is willing to take that subject, which is very dear to her, she agreed. In a very dense and yet simple way, she guided us through her lesson and some exercises that really revealed some insights for us. I am grateful for this because I like to see in trainers an awareness about trauma and some knowledge about its effects and how to deal with it. One aim of Nathalie is to educate teachers and parents on how to deal with panic attacks of teenagers in an NVC way.

I have deep faith and trust in Nathalie that she has the capacity to hold groups in difficult situations, and with her creativity, her humor, and her life experience, she will find ways to handle them with ease and playfulness. She knows how to take care of herself, and she is doing it—for example, by being in nature, doing yoga, and practicing martial arts. It has been an honor and a joy for me to accompany her during the last years and to see her growing, making life-changing decisions, and becoming more and more her real self. I experienced her being courageous and not avoiding hot topics. This gives me trust too.

She is engaged wholeheartedly in NVC, and her longing for peace for all is her fuel. I can deeply connect to that and am thrilled to have her as a colleague. I am sure she will enrich our trainer community with her contributions, and I welcome her with a warm smile to the “gang.”

From Nathalie:

Back in 2016, I was a sculptor, going through a loss of meaning. I lived in a place I didn't like and had a relationship crisis with my partner. My then-therapist advised me to check on NVC, and so I googled Marshall Rosenberg and decided he was too weird for me, with the puppets and all... :))

It took me some time to watch his 3-hour video until one day I heard myself talking to my daughter in a way that I suddenly perceived as manipulating. Marshall's words clicked at that moment, and I went back to listening, digging deeper, and clumsily trying to express myself differently. A few months later, we got to move to our dream place where I magically met Giacomo Poleschi, my first NVC trainer. From there on, I became ever more passionate about this 'new' vision, and the need for meaning was met as I felt at home on each NVC Dance Floor I walked.

Towards the end of the Certification Process, I went through war during our visit to my home country (Israel) with my daughters and then a separation from my partner. I'm writing this transparently as I see that with the pain, there's also a possibility of transformation in each crisis. (From Greek; Krisis = Choice, Decision), the opportunity to choose and decide differently. These events impacted me deeply, yet I felt my center safe, quiet, observing, externally and internally, choosing. I could take responsibility for my inner process and allow myself the time I needed.

I felt seen and accompanied by Edith, my Assessor, and I got to the certification moment holding peace as an inner process and as a choice I make. I am so deeply grateful for this path, how it takes me out of my comfort zone into growth and freedom. From a communication method, to introspection, to a spiritual path.

FROM THE ASSESSOR, Shona Cameron

Silvia had committed to a path of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) before we met and I then marvelled at her determination and focus through the certification path. Silvia brings with her a wealth of experience as a trainer and as an explorer of life and connections. She has a quiet strength and a call to leadership which will inspire others to learn with her. She is drawn to work internationally and locally to bring people from different backgrounds and cultures together. She continues to work on growing acceptance and love for self so she ca shine even more! We have 'met' each other in partnership and found trust that we both matter - even when in candidate and Assessor relationship! Much to celebrate!

From Silvia:

Besides reading Marshall Rosenberg's book, my journey with NVC truly started in 2016 with a workshop on NVC in Education with Marianne Göthlin (Sweden) and Corrylaura Van Bladel (Belgium). I was deeply inspired and wanted more. I continued with a 10-day integration track, followed by a deepening training and a train-the-trainer journey, all mainly with Corrylaura Van Bladel's organization Blabla in Belgium, together with Marianne Göthlin and partially Towe Widstrand. I further deepened my journey with various other Certified Trainers, mainly in Belgium.

In 2020, I was invited to join Corrylaura's trainer team and started my journey as an NVC trainer. Around that time, I got interested in the Certification Process with CNVC, and with four peers from my learning journey, we started a peer support group in Belgium. I enjoyed the companionship, the mutual learning process, sharing empathy, feedback, and learning edges, while witnessing each other's progress on the journey. Much gratitude goes to our little group, which is still connected and alive!

I registered with my Assessor, Shona Cameron, in January 2023 and took part in several events with the English-speaking European Assessor team throughout 2023 and 2024. Having moved to the Netherlands in 2023, I was grateful to meet new travel companions on the certification journey in the Netherlands too, with whom I continued joint traveling on this path of mutual support, learning, and empathic exchanges. Much gratitude goes to them as well.

Today, I am grateful to have accomplished the last piece of the journey in my Final Assessment in Poland, celebrating having experienced a true partnership paradigm with my Assessor, Shona, and the Assessor team—which, to me, is the most appropriate way of going through this certification journey in the spirit of NVC.

FROM THE ASSESSOR, Marcelle Bélanger

[EN] Since I met Stéphane, I have been inspired by his vision and his deep desire to work within the community to drive social change. The community plays a significant role in his life! Stéphane is fully committed and demonstrates a remarkable ability to embody and experience Nonviolent Communication with integrity, depth, and clarity. Through his presence, he has a unique capacity to create a safe space and foster bonds of trust. Throughout his journey, I was accompanied by my co-assessor, Valérie Lanctot-Bédard, who also joins me in celebrating Stéphane's certification.

From Stephane:

Right from the start, my encounter with Nonviolent Communication (NVC) was marked by a great deal of magic and inspiration. Eight years ago, I met new people who listened and expressed themselves in a way that was impactful to me: with coherence, depth, and kindness. It was a breath of fresh air, like discovering something I'd been looking for, for a long time. Six years ago, I listened to the call and entered years-long training programs. I was lucky to be guided by two exceptional mentors, Marcelle Bélanger and Robert Bouchard, who embody and pass on NVC with great passion.

Over the years of learning and integrating, the path has become a pilgrimage where every step is an opportunity to try, to the best of my ability, to keep my mind clear and my heart open. The connections emerging from this space are so delicious! Whether in the closeness of friendship, in the intimacy of a romantic relationship, in the warmth of family, in the sacredness of connection with oneself, or in the softened gaze of a stranger...

During my Certification Process, I had the great pleasure of sharing the basics of NVC awareness with friends, family, and through offering trainings to the general public. By becoming a Certified Trainer today, I wish to further build my own ways of sharing the gifts of NVC consciousness with the world, and access our collective needs for meaning, personal power, and interdependence. May the journey continue!

from the assessor, Sabine Geiger

I very much enjoy how Edith shows up in life and in workshops. She brings a lot of clarity, presence, and natural leadership. Edith has been sharing Nonviolent Communication (NVC) for years in different contexts. It is important to her to live in her daily life what she shares in workshops. Edith enjoys diving deep and exploring her inner world, as well as creating a safe space for the people around her to do the same.

Edith is also interested in community work and is experimenting with offering her NVC view of the world to the community she lives in. What I find impressive is that one of the reasons she moved there is that she sensed she could contribute her wisdom and live NVC in real life in this community. She is also interested in bringing her systems exploration into her community life. There, she is planning to support awareness about the systems we create and jointly learn how to choose them more consciously. I am excited to accompany her in this project and trust that she will be able to apply this in other contexts. I am looking forward to seeing Edith’s strengths show up in our trainer community.

from Edith:

My journey with NVC started in 2003 with a seminar on mindfulness. The lady running the seminar had just come across the book by Marshall in German and presented us with the four steps chapter by chapter. I was full of resistance, a loud jackal in my head howling that this is nonsense. But somehow, it fascinated me. I bought the book, and my journey began. After a rather technical approach in the first years of experimenting with NVC, I changed, and my understanding of what it is about deepened. Moving from my brain to my heart and my gut!

And I love the change it brought to me—in connection with myself and the people around me. My Certification Process was quite a challenge. For the process, a lot of things were asked that I usually simply do not: networking, exchange with colleagues, intense reflection, learning from others, belonging to a group, and getting feedback. And all these things made my life in the last four years so much deeper, more alive, more connected! I am incredibly grateful for this chance of intense learning, connecting, and understanding so much more about myself!

from the assessor, Marianne Sikor

[EN] Cécile has been registered with me since 2021, and we have been in regular contact about her learnings in teaching, living, and knowing Nonviolent Communication (NVC). In the beginning, she was also accompanied by Amalasiri Murcia as part of her learning process as an Assessors-in-Training (AIT) (as Amalasiri went on a 3-year retreat, we could not continue with this arrangement). I'm very grateful that Cécile enjoyed this chance to receive accompaniment from two people and, at the same time, contribute to the learning of Amalasiri.

During three mentoring and assessment days (4 days each), Cécile was supported in her process with 360-degree feedback by my team members, Constanza and Gerardo, by some certified trainers from Spain, and by our candidate community.

During our process together, I greatly valued Cécile's commitment to integrating NVC and her capacity for self-reflection and self-empathy. In the last DTA, we could also witness and hold space for a reconciliation role-play in which she accompanied another candidate. This deepened my trust in her ability to offer empathy and hold an empathic space with presence and acceptance for all that arises.

As a Biodanza teacher, she also integrates the body in her way of sharing NVC and thus invites participants who prefer this access to their feelings and needs. Cécile is part of the NVC network in Catalunya. I’m really looking forward to seeing her announced as a member of our CNVC trainer network and to her contributions.

from Cécile:

[EN] My journey towards Nonviolent Communication marked a turning point in my life, profoundly changing the way I relate to myself, to others, and to the world. I discovered NVC in 2017 through the writings of Marshall Rosenberg, and since then I have been deepening my understanding and integration, in groups and in community spaces. I regained trust in myself, in others, and in life. Little by little, I learned to experience my vulnerability and sensitivity as gifts to be offered in service to the community, to protect and care.

Now, my commitment is to share NVC and create spaces of peace and nonviolence where we can unlearn and learn, deconstruct to reconstruct together. A place where each person can support others and be supported on their path towards integrating NVC and expressing their identity in connection with life.

from the Assessor, Valerie Lanctôt-Bédard

[EN] Léna has always been, in my eyes, a model of devotion: to Life, to truth, to inner work, to the human relational and evolutionary space. With a deep interest in human dynamics, she leverages her natural curiosity to, again and again, ask sharp and challenging questions, without generating closure or defensiveness. She thus actively participates in raising awareness; she is an inspiration to me and others in this area.

It seems to me that the combination of her critical mind, her candor, her personal power, and her empathy carries great potential for deployment in the world, bringing us a little closer every day to Marshall's dream, where a critical mass of humans are exposed, in a relevant and contagious way, to this promising consciousness for our collective future. It is with great joy that we welcome her into the circle of certified trainers. In appreciation of the complicity with my co-assessor, Marcelle Bélanger.

from Léna:

I still remember coming out of my first introductory Nonviolent Communication (NVC) module with the impression of having discovered something so precious, so fundamental to me, dormant until then. These discoveries came to vibrate intensely in my body, which demanded more! I fully committed myself to this journey, to meet myself at first, to then be better able to connect with others, and then better understand what underlies our social dynamics on a larger scale. It was a privilege to have been supported by several reference people, giving me access to a precious human and pedagogical diversity.

The Certification Process proved to be the logical continuation of this exploration. It allowed me to touch an even more refined and enriched dimension of what I had explored. This deepening brought me more awareness and power of action to generate a climate of security and collaboration, especially when I am in a transmission posture. I had the chance to revisit beliefs and develop more inner confidence in order to move towards a posture more aligned with my aspirations that clearly reminds me of the importance of honoring our choices. It was extremely stimulating to nourish and transmit this art of living in the service of us, by having access to precious spaces of feedback and support promoting my evolution. Certification is, for me, a moment that allows me to recognize and celebrate the integration to date. It supports me in the pursuit of this life path that I cherish, to which I devote my energy and which seems so hopeful to me.
