Martin van der Meulen was born in the Netherlands and found Nonviolent Communication (NVC) while living in Brazil. There, he helped establish NVC and set about sharing it, giving workshops to companies, NGOs, and children. He returned to the Netherlands in 2004 and established Ai-opener, receiving his trainer certification from the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) in the same year.
