Nienke Vierstra is a Dutch trainer with extensive experience in international contexts. She has worked across Latin America, Asia, and Africa as a trainer, facilitator, and program director within international NGOs. Her work focuses on empowering individuals and strengthening organizations that engage communities around education, mental healthcare, gender equality, and peacebuilding.
Her journey with Nonviolent Communication (NVC) led her to Northern Uganda, where she founded a local community of practice. What began as a small initiative has grown into a network of seven trainers and twenty-five practitioners, bringing NVC to more than twenty local communities.
In the Netherlands, Nienke facilitates NVC-based trainings for managers and teams, helping them cultivate more compassionate and connected working environments. She has developed practical, accessible materials that make NVC relevant in both community and professional settings. For individuals, she offers open trainings and tailor-made programs in various cities.
Nienke believes another world is possible, one built on empathy, mutual respect, and shared power. Her approach is rooted in the partnership paradigm at the heart of NVC.
