When I first read Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life (published in Italian as Le parole sono finestre oppure muri—Words Are Windows or They're Walls) in 2005, at the age of seventeen, Nonviolent Communication (NVC) immediately resonated with the deepest and most authentic part of who I am. I believe NVC is the most effective approach I know for cultivating a quality of authenticity and connection that has the potential, the power, and the strength to change the world—if only it were known and practiced by most human beings. Ever since discovering it, I have felt a profound inner calling to actively contribute to its dissemination.
I experience NVC as a spiritual practice—a path for expressing in the world the inner attitude of love that Marshall Rosenberg spoke about. I remember as vividly as if it were yesterday the first time I experienced that inner shift, that opening of the heart that arises when, after transforming our judgments into needs, we come into contact with the flow of life that Rosenberg called "Beloved Divine Energy." For me, it is essential to harmonize this inner drive for spiritual inquiry and growth with a commitment to transformative action in the world.
One of my deepest aspirations is to contribute to the spread of NVC through my passion for music. I have been singing, playing music, and writing songs since I was fourteen years old. With the record label Madamadorè, I have released two albums: Polvere Magica ("Magic Dust," 2021) and Se a sera nel mio mondo ("If, in the Evening, in My World," 2023). From the very beginning of my certification journey, I have written songs inspired by Nonviolent Communication. I feel deeply grateful and moved by the unique connections that music can create, especially when people recognize themselves in the values and messages it conveys. I am also delighted to share that I am about to release Universal Beauty, a new twelve-song album inspired largely by Nonviolent Communication.
Beyond music, the other great passion I have chosen to integrate with my understanding of NVC is the world of dreams. In 2010, I completed my university thesis on dreams in the Indo-Tibetan Buddhist tradition, and in 2011 I published an article in the journal Quaderni Asiatici entitled "Dream Yoga in the Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Tradition." It is from this tradition that the practice of lucid dreaming originates—a dream in which you are aware that you are dreaming while the dream is taking place.
For me, lucid dreaming is not about controlling dreams but about entering into a compassionate dialogue with the dreaming mind. After many years of personal practice, workshops, and retreats, I became certified as a Lucid Dream Facilitator in 2025 through the international Lucid Dream Facilitator Training held by Charlie Morley, and began offering workshops on the subject. Through ongoing inner exploration, I have discovered ways of integrating Nonviolent Communication into the dream experience. If dreams provide a remarkable gateway to our inner world, then practicing NVC within dreams becomes, for me, a profoundly transformative opportunity to extend compassion toward the many parts of ourselves. This is one of the contributions I hope to bring to the NVC community through trainings, shared learning spaces, and educational resources.
I love offering trainings and sharing NVC in educational settings, particularly in schools, where I enjoy supporting stronger connections between teachers and students. In my way of sharing NVC, I often sing my own songs, using music and poetry as tools for integrating and communicating the principles of this practice. I frequently draw upon Robert Gonzales's work on the spirituality of NVC and his exploration of the "Beauty of Needs." Among the themes I am most passionate about are transforming enemy images and caring for impact. I deeply value creativity, playfulness, humor, and maintaining a connection with spontaneity and authenticity.
In my trainings, I often use the NVC Dance Floors created by Bridget Belgrave and Gina Lawrie. I had the great pleasure of meeting Bridget in person, and I continue to appreciate the richness of this learning approach. And of course, I love using the jackal and giraffe puppets and ears!
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has helped me integrate NVC more deeply into my life, beginning with Stephanie Bachmann Mattei and Ruud Bandeers, who accompanied me throughout my certification journey as my assessors. Their support and encouragement offered me countless opportunities for growth. It was also deeply meaningful for me to participate in two International Intensive Trainings (IITs), where I had the opportunity to meet trainers who profoundly influenced and inspired me. Among them, John Kinyon opened entirely new perspectives for me through his extraordinary quality of empathy and his integration of the NVC process into the field of mediation.
Witnessing so many people grow and transform through the practice of Nonviolent Communication has given me even greater hope, trust, and determination to contribute to creating the world I dream of.
