Based in Vancouver, Canada, I’ve been offering NVC training for individuals and organizations for over 15 years. As a second-generation Japanese Canadian impacted by war-generated trauma, I practice compassionate inquiry about emotionally reactive behaviours and explore what is needed to increase our capacity for wellbeing, dialogue and collaboration. I have been exploring what NVC can bring to issues of social location and racialization to strengthen relationships within organizations

As a settler on the unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, I work to understand the scope of my responsibility under this colonial system. I have longstanding commitments to work with people impacted by colonization, classism, racism, and intergenerational trauma. I am passionate about supporting people:

  • To unpack self-limiting beliefs, while holding compassion for our younger selves who tried to make sense of suffering.
  • With empathy for what it’s like to endure relentless self-criticism, while understanding the urgent messages of survival that guided past generations.
  • To explore the roots of anger and channeling its energy to enhance life.
  • To overcome blocks to accomplishing tasks, support with follow-through on goals and cultivating self-trust.
  • Accompanying parents committed to working through their own challenges to leave a lighter load for the next generation.
