I have always been fascinated by communication. When I learned about Nonviolent communication (NVC) around 2013, I was given an answer to many questions, and it quickly became clear to me that I wanted more people to be able to learn about NVC.
I have been working with people with disabilities for many years. In my work, I can practice recognizing needs almost every minute. Especially with people who can't express themselves verbally. An important task at this time is how we can support people with disabilities in leading a self-determined life. This requires people in their environment who support them in a needs-orientated way and who think and act at eye level and in power with. There is still a lot to do here because people with intellectual disabilities still often experience power over.
That's why, in addition to NVC training for all people, I give freelance training for employees in social institutions and schools for students who will later work in social areas. I have also published the book ‘Nonviolent Communication for People with Disabilities. NVC as the basis for needs-orientated support’.
We would also have less conflict and violence in the world if there were more spaces in which situations could be processed, feelings could be held and people could simply be. NVC seminars are particularly well suited as spaces in which people can process and reflect on issues and triggers and be heard with their pain. This allows us to deal with difficult situations more calmly, and I think that this can help us to make the world a more peaceful place.

Schon immer hat mich Kommunikation fasziniert. Als ich etwa 2013 die Gewaltfreie Kommunikation kennengelernt habe, habe ich auf viele Fragen eine Antwort bekommen und schnell war für mich klar: Ich möchte, dass mehr Menschen GFK kennenlernen können.
Ich arbeite seit vielen Jahren mit Menschen mit Behinderung zusammen. In meiner Arbeit kann ich mich in fast jeder Minute üben, Bedürfnisse zu vermuten. Vor allem bei den Menschen, die sich nicht verbal äußern können. Eine wichtige Aufgabe in dieser Zeit ist, wie wir Menschen mit Behinderungen, insbesondere mit kognitiven Behinderungen, dabei unterstützen können, ein selbstbestimmtes Leben zu führen. Dazu braucht es Menschen in ihrem Umfeld, die sie bedürfnisorientiert begleiten und auf Augenhöhe und in Macht mit Menschen denken und handeln. Hier gibt es noch viel zu tun, denn Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung erleben immer noch häufig Macht über.
Daher gebe ich freiberuflich, neben GFK-Trainings für alle Menschen, Fortbildungen für Mitarbeitende in sozialen Einrichtungen und Schulen für Auszubildende, die später auch in sozialen Bereichen arbeiten werde. Und habe dafür auch das Buch "Gewaltfreie Kommunikation bei Menschen mit Behinderung. GFK als Basis für bedürfnisorientierte Begleitung" geschrieben.
Außerdem hätten wir weniger Konflikte und Gewalt in der Welt, wenn es mehr Räume gäbe, in denen Situationen verarbeitet, Gefühle gehalten und Menschen einfach sein können. GFK-Seminare eignen sich besonders gut als Räume, in denen Menschen Themen und Trigger verarbeiten und reflektieren können und mit ihrem Schmerz gehört werden. Dadurch können wir mit schwierigen Situationen gelassener umgehen, und ich denke, dass dies uns helfen kann, die Welt zu einem friedlicheren Ort zu machen.
