Godfrey Spencer read Linguistics, Philosophy and History at the University of Cambridge before being hired by IBM Europe into its International Effective Communication team.

From IBM he moved to become a senior bilingual interpreter at NATO. The variety of his experiences there and the diversity of the people he encountered encouraged Godfrey to retrain in London, France and the US as an NLP (NeuroLinguistic Programming) Master Practitioner. He extended this expertise with the Institute for Training in Intercultural Management.

Godfrey was appointed as an expert to APM (Association Progrès du Management, Paris) and regularly leads seminars for the European Commission. He is  retained as a consultant by the European Investment Bank and by a subsidiary of ING (Internationale Nederlanden Groep) and has run team-building workshops for the European Central Bank in Frankfurt and the European Space Agency in Noordwijk. In addition, Godfrey is committed to facilitating the ending of the 34-year-long civil war in Senegal, travelling there twice a year to mediate between the rebel leaders as well as government leaders and military chiefs of staff.

Trained by Marshall Rosenberg (the creator of NVC℠ – Nonviolent Communication), Godfrey has specialised in NVC℠ since 1997 and became a Certified Trainer, Consultant and Mediator in 2001. In 2004, Godfrey was appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Center for Nonviolent Communication.

Godfrey works with Universities, Bar Associations, the Judiciary, University Hospitals, Corporations, Business training organisations and Governments to deliver conferences, seminars, workshops, mediation, training and negotiation skills.
