Nonviolence Nonstop Everywhere
The story behind the NVC Library in California
How Nonviolent Communication (NVC) can spread, offering global access to learning and practice.
Hi, I’m Sofie De Wulf and I started collaborating with the NVC Academy in 2021, initially providing Zoom technical support for our live courses. I later joined the help desk team and became involved in promotions and outreach. Today, my focus is on building partnerships and helping more people discover the richness of the NVC Library. I love sharing what the NVC Library has to offer, and I continue to learn so much from the diverse teachings and perspectives it brings together.
All started 20 years ago
The NVC Library is a program of the NVC Academy, founded by Mary Mackenzie and Mark Schultz 20 years ago with a shared vision: to make Nonviolent Communication (NVC) accessible to everyone.
Today, the NVC Library carries that vision forward by bringing together a rich and growing collection of teachings, courses, and practice resources from experienced NVC trainers around the world. It offers a space for ongoing learning, exploration, and practice, where people can discover different perspectives and find the approaches that resonate with them.

“NVC Academy's NVC Library is a banquet of riches, a sustaining resource for learners and practitioners”— Sarah Peyton, Certified Trainer
The NVC Library is designed to support ongoing learning and practice, not just one-time courses. It brings together many voices, perspectives, and ways of understanding Nonviolent Communication, so you can find what resonates most with you.

Easy access and diversity of trainers
By providing an extensive online collection of teachings, courses, trainer tips, and practice resources from experienced NVC trainers worldwide, the NVC Library supports NVC learning and practice through accessible, on-demand learning.
The NVC Library helps disseminate and preserve NVC while supporting the development of empathy, connection, and compassionate communication.

“I love referring my friends and students to the NVC Library. The combination of in depth material from a carefully selected group of experienced trainers, covering almost every possible application of NVC at such a low price is an unbeatable deal. Everyone I refer lets me know how much they appreciate being able to get the programs or read numerous articles when it fits into their busy lives.”— Roxy Manning, PhD, Certified Trainer
A nonviolence legacy
The NVC Library serves as a living learning companion of NVC wisdom, preserving and sharing the contributions of trainers for current and future generations. Through dedicated legacy collections, such as those honoring trainers like Robert Gonzales and Jim Manske, the NVC Library helps ensure that valuable teachings, insights, and practices remain accessible long after they are first offered, contributing to the ongoing evolution and sustainability of the NVC movement.

“There is an immense rich source of wisdom in this library-world, where I can travel to several destinations of nonviolence, get nourished according to the needs of my soul and share with my community all that I’ve integrated.”— Gizem, Certification Candidate
“The NVC library is a treasure chest. The recorded calls and classes have kept me company through many hours of driving, waiting in lines, and washing dishes at the kitchen sink. My relationship with my children has been enriched by the nuggets and gems I’ve picked up at the NVC media library.”— miri, NVC Library user
Would you partner up?
We are looking for partners: assessors and trainers who would like to use the NVC Library to guide their candidates and/or students. Any kind of organization that would like to teach or share NVC with groups and use the NVC Library as a trusted learning companion.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please get in touch with the Certified Trainers supporting the project through their pages on the CNVC:

Are you inspired?
Giraffes Around the World was a space created by Marshall Rosenberg to share NVC initiatives within the IITs (International Intensive Trainings offered by CNVC).
Now, we want to expand that spirit to the entire global NVC community through these publications.
