Peaceful and Nonviolent Communication skills are essential to associative life, especially in times of conflict and deep disagreement. The aim of this chapter is to show that communicative peacebuilding is relevant and useful in nonviolent settings in both mature and emerging civil societies from both the Global South and the Global North and not only in post-civil war setting, i.e., after violent conflict. 

It will proceed in four steps: first, it will define the communicative peacebuilding approach in more detail; second, it will establish the approach’s range and fields of applicability; third, it will provide five concrete steps on how to practically devise a communicative peacebuilding initiative; and fourth, it will exemplify where and how the communicative peacebuilding approach has been used thus far with a focus on Kenya.
