First and foremost, I'm a human being living a human existence. I'm a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and business person. I have interactions every day, all day in which I am forever challenged to be the greatest ideal of myself that I can be, and it is not always easy.
I believe, deeply, that peace begins with me. So I am doing everything possible to learn how to show up and be that peace because I want my life to work, but, more so, I want peace on this earth and I'm willing to take responsibility for my part of it. This does not mean that I'm the perfect model of peace, but it does mean that I see my life and all of my experiences as an evolution towards that end.
I have a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Design and extensive experience in the field of program evaluation. My years of research and evaluation in social services and educational institutions provide an upfront, in-depth understanding of the need for instruction related to emotional intelligence in all our current systems.
As a result, I have been on a personal mission to teach myself and then others Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication process. My dream is to see this process taught to all people in order to stop the cycle of violence found in our homes and our organizations.
I am also focused on bringing Restorative Practices to all segments of society: our schools, governmental institutions, and businesses, and I am a Licensed Trainer from the International Institute for Restorative Practices.
