# From Iran with Gratitude: Honoring Marshall Rosenberg’s Legacy

An NVC gathering in Iran brings together personal reflections on Marshall Rosenberg’s teachings and their continuing impact

Around the time of Mahatma Gandhi’s and Marshall Rosenberg’s birthdays, a group of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) facilitators and practitioners in Iran gathered to celebrate Marshall’s life and legacy.

During the gathering, participants shared what they had learned from Marshall and how NVC has influenced their lives. Their individual reflections were brought together into a collective message titled **“From You, We Learned…”**

The message highlights some of the principles that continue to guide their practice of NVC: recognizing the needs behind human behavior, listening before offering solutions, seeing the humanity in others, and responding with compassion rather than judgment.

## Practicing NVC in Difficult Times

In their message to CNVC, the group also shared how NVC continues to support their efforts to foster connection and peace, even in challenging circumstances.

As they wrote:

> *"Despite the difficult circumstances that people in Iran are facing, there are still individuals who are committed to creating change, nurturing connection, and contributing to peace in their communities and society."*

Their reflections offer a glimpse of how Marshall’s teachings continue to inspire people in different parts of the world.

CNVC thanks Maryam Sheikh and the NVC practitioners in Iran for sharing their reflections and for their continued commitment to practicing and sharing Nonviolent Communication.
