IIT – International intensive training in Nonviolent Communication is an immersion into various workshops, home groups, practices, and direct application of the principles of Nonviolent communication during the period of 9 days.
The training is open to an international group of about 70-80 people from various countries, cultural backgrounds, professions, and walks of life to co-create a safe space for exploring vulnerability, gaining communication skills and consciousness, and fostering change on personal and community levels over an extended period of time.
Please feel a warm welcome to join us whether you are a parent, teacher, activist, leader, businessman, social worker, or a curious explorer of life…
The retreat will be held by a group of an organizer and 5 internationally established certified trainers in Nonviolent communication.
First time in Finland: International Intensive Training (IIT), a 9-day intensive training together with the Center for Nonviolent Communication.
This unique IIT will be held in Kiponniemi Activity Resort located in the middle of the beautiful lake district of Finland, about 18 km from the city of the Jyväskylä. The place is a very popular destination for peaceful holiday-seekers during all seasons. Outdoor wooden shelters, lean-tos and excellent campfire possibilities throughout the area provide rest places for picnics in the woods. Kiponniemi calls you to come and stay, and enjoy its peaceful natural surroundings by the clean peninsula waters and is a perfect place to center your mind, spirit, and practice of NVC.
Kiponniemi offers comfortable accommodation in 3-5 person rooms, which are located in the main building on the campus. There are also limited single rooms, shared rooms in the main building, shared rooms in cabins, and shared rooms with loft beds. Other facilities are two saunas by the shore of the lake and a fireplace room for 12 people. Prices include three meals per day and coffee breaks. The venue offers vegetarian and vegan options. Trainer: Robert Maoz Kržišnik (Slovenia)
MSc. Psych., CNVC Certified NVC Trainer, and Mediator
From early teenage years I have been inquiring into the questions of meaning of life, the nature of existence and the ways of meeting each other at the heart level. The journey led me through studying Psychology, working as a psychotherapist for 12 years, and working as a trainer, facilitator for over 33 years, covering areas from spiritual retreats to business trainings.
Within the context of NVC I am most passionate about its spiritual and embodied dimensions and about conflict mediation. Besides NVC, most important explorations on my journey have so far been Soto Zen, Art of Hosting, Bohmian Dialogue, Contact Improvisation…
I have been regularly serving as a trainer on IITs and have shared NVC in over 30 countries in Europe, Mideast, Asia, USA, Australia…
My permanent address is in Slovenia, which used to be a part of a country that does not exist anymore, but still resides in my heart as the place where I grew up — Yugoslavia. I have given two TEDx talks, connected with Nonviolent Communication one in 2012 on Global Citizenship, and the other in 2013 on Personal Growth.

Trainer: Angela Walkley (Gabriola Isl., Canada)
CNVC Certified NVC Trainer
For over 20 years, Angela has facilitated groups through decision-making, conflict, and personal change. She has held space for the exploration of the inner landscape and has walked many miles with First Nations, Government, non-profit organizations, and community leaders striving to make decisions together for the future of their surrounding natural world and their communities.
Currently, Angela leads several long-term and annual programs, including KILN, a program supporting trainer candidates; WHEEL, a regional 9-month program for people inspired to provide empathy to those in need; The NVC Body and Mind Immersion at the Haven Retreat Centre; and the Gabriola NVC (all ages) Summer Camp. She also offers training in facilitation and workshops for those deepening in NVC.
Power and privilege and practices for supporting capacity development and shared power are topics of significant focus for Angela. She has worked on leadership development projects in Canada’s north, India, Ecuador, and Mexico. And is passionate about finding ways to model innovative approaches to this topic in her own work.
Somatic awareness is a key part of Angela’s offerings, integrating her knowledge of yoga and her experience of how somatic awareness has played out in her mediation of high conflict situations. She incorporates movement into her offerings and teaches yoga (Vijnana 800 hours) in her home community on Gabriola Island.
Angela works closely with CNVC assessor Penny Wassman providing support to her Trainer Candidates and seeking opportunities for potential trainer candidates with limitations related to access and finances.
When not in front of a group, Angela can be found slowly (sometimes painfully) developing a hobby farm on Gabriola, practicing yoga, and exploring hidden pockets in nature with her husband Mitch Miyagawa (also an NVC trainer) and their two boys.
