vision mission aim

The Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) is a global organization that supports the learning and sharing of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and helps people peacefully and effectively resolve conflicts in personal, organizational, and political settings.

CNVC is a steward of the integrity of the NVC process and a nexus point of NVC-related information and resources, including training, conflict resolution, projects and organizational consulting services. CNVC’s mission is to contribute to more sustainable, compassionate, and “life-serving” human relations in the realms of personal change, interpersonal relationship and in social systems and structures, such as business/economics, education, justice, healthcare, and peace-keeping. NVC work is being done in over 65 countries and growing, touching the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world

The Center for Nonviolent Communication pursues the vision of a world in which

  • everyone values everyone's basic human needs and lives from a consciousness that connects with the universal life energy and natural oneness of all life
  • where every individual embraces self compassion
  • where people joyfully and compassionately contribute to each other and resolve conflicts peacefully
  • where the systems and structures we create in economics, education, justice, healthcare, peace-keeping and other areas across our global interdependent community reflect that consciousness and evaluate their actions against their contribution to life and the human needs they ultimately serve

Our mission is to contribute to making that vision a reality by

  • living Nonviolent Communication
  • enabling development of self-organizing entities to care for the needs of those sharing the vision
  • supporting continuing integrity of NVC embodiment through International Intensive Trainings, and training / continuing education for NVC trainers and assessors
  • encouraging and enabling the development of social change efforts
  • fostering connection and collaboration among key individuals, groups and organizations who share our vision
  • providing a repository of NVC materials for global access

CNVC Core Activities:

  • Certification Program
  • International Intensive Trainings
  • Promoting NVC Trainings
  • Sponsoring NVC social change projects
  • Creating or assisting in the creation of NVC educational materials
  • Distribution and/or sale of NVC educational materials
