Center for Nonviolent Communication: A Global Organization

When our communication supports compassionate giving and receiving, happiness replaces violence and grieving!

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is based on the principles of nonviolence-- the natural state of compassion when no violence is present in the heart.

NVC begins by assuming that we are all compassionate by nature and that violent strategies—whether verbal or physical—are learned behaviors taught and supported by the prevailing culture. NVC also assumes that we all share the same, basic human needs, and that each of our actions are a strategy to meet one or more of these needs.

People who practice NVC have found greater authenticity in their communication, increased understanding, deepening connection and conflict resolution.

The NVC community is active in over 65 countries around the globe.

PLEASE NOTE:

MAY 25, 2018: Update on development of our new site.

We continue to adapt the functions of the site to better serve our users, and to ensure complete compliance with the requirements of the GDPR. This process has required close attention to detail and consideration of the needs of our many users, to balance our mission of connecting the global community of supporters of NVC with each other and support the work of the Certified Trainers. With such a diversity of expectations and the need for rigour in our processes and security of data, this is taking more time than originally expected. We appreciate your patience as our small but intrepid group of staff and project contractors work through these issues. Until the new site is launched, anything you enter into your blog or other forms here will need to be migrated and may require it to be manually re-entered. If you have an upcoming event, It is still advisable to enter your event information and any time-sensitive information, as this site will continue to be where folks can look for these. If you can hold back from adding any non-urgent information for now, and add or update this on the new site, please check back for further directions when we launch.

The current site will continue to be active until the public launch of the new site. Staff will be testing and refining the content and functions of the new site between now and then. We appreciate your patience and support during this time. Do not hesitate to send your questions and concerns directly to me in the meantime.
