Could You?

For the past three years I've been dropping Marshall's name, sharing quotes and links and telling friends how using NVC has impacted my life.  This weekend was no exception when an old friend called at the end of her marital rope again.  This time I gave her empathy first and then asked if she would enjoy some advice.  I am growing weary of sounding like a broken record but she said "yes, yes" and soon had watched a video and found the copy of his I had recommended she read years before. This time it clicked and I got a "Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!" text later that day.

I spoke to her again just now she is over the moon excited and has found a workshop to attend near her.  It was gratifying to hear her express how she thought this could save her marriage and have her tell me how she used it. Instead saying to her husband "You haven't fixed my broken tail light yet.  It's been over two weeks!" She said, "I have a favor to ask.  Would you have time to fix my tail light before I leave for work?  I'm going to be driving in the dark tonight."  It wasn't OFNR but it worked like a charm and she was wowed.  Later she asked her therapist if she knew about Nonviolent Communication.  When the therapist told her she doesn't know anything about it, my friend simply said "Could you?"
