NYCNVC Practice Groups are weekly gatherings (usually 5 to 15 people) where you can develop your skills through the use of practice exercises, role-plays and the sharing of your struggles and successes with others.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is often readily understood, yet can be challenging to put into practice. To help you bring NVC into your daily life The New York Center for Nonviolent Communication (NYCNVC) offers NVC Practice Groups in North America and Europe.

PLEASE NOTE: We ask that all registrants participate in at least 80% of the sessions (i.e. 8 out of 10) to support continuity, learning, participation and progress of the whole group.

Cat McCarthy
International yoga trainer and Emmy-nominated filmmaker, Cat McCarthy loves sharing how Nonviolent Communication has changed her life. Wearing a third professional hat of NYCNVC Facilitator, Cat has personally benefited from this "yoga of communication," in learning how to transform conflict into connection. She is a graduate of the NYCNVC Integration program and currently serves as a Practice Group Leader and Workshop/Intensive Facilitator. Integrating film storytelling, the embodiment of the yoga asana practice, and the mental/emotional intelligence of NVC, Cat offers guidance on how to bridge the yoga on and off the mat, in order to lead a more empowering and enjoyable life.

Doreen Poulin
Doreen dedicates her life to helping people communicate more effectively. For more than 30 years she has worked as a speech-language pathologist in hospital, group home, and school settings. NVC consciousness has given her greater understanding of what motivates people to respond as they do (including herself), and has brought more authenticity, connection, and peace into her life.
Her journey with NYCNVC began in 2013. She has facilitated several weekend trainings and is now committed to earning NYCNVC Facilitator and Trainer certifications.
Using and sharing NVC greatly assists her in her goal to bring more peace to the earth, one interaction at a time!
