Compassionate Communication (NVC) Study Group

This is an introductory class following Marshall Rosenberg's model of Nonviolent Communication. We will use Rosenberg's text, "Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life", 3rd edition, and Lucy Leu's companion workbook "Nonviolent Communication: the Companion Workbook", to guide our learning together. Both are required. Participants will gain a firmly grounded grasp of the basics of Nonviolent Communication. The focus of the workshop will be on creating a community of practice involving communication basics and key concepts, so that we develop a greater fluency in "The Language of Life"! This will be an intense, interactive class. The fun and energy of class meetings will come through engaged participation! There will be homework each meeting (from the above mentioned books), which will in turn be the material for discussion and exercises in the following session. This will require about an hour every week, to prepare for class! Cost: Tuition: $20 per session, or $220 if paid in advance, by second class meeting; additionally there is the cost of the books: textbook and companion workbook described above, (available at Amazon.com). (Some scholarship support may be available in cases of financial hardship.) Enrollment will be limited to 15 participants, on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants are welcome to bring friends or family members to visit a class, at a cost of $20.00 per session.
