Center For Nonviolent Communicationsm |
Program: This International Intensive Training (IIT) is a 9-day, Nonviolent Communication “immersion experience.” It is a residential workshop led by a team of experienced CNVC certified trainers. The purpose of this IIT training is to offer people the opportunity to live the process of Nonviolent Communication in community over an extended period of time, in order to develop Nonviolent Communication knowledge, skills and consciousness.
Lead Trainer - Marshall Rosenberg, Assistant to Lead Trainer - Valentina Rosenberg
Marshall Rosenberg is founder and director of educational services for The Center for Nonviolent Communication, an international, non-profit organization. In 1961 Dr. Rosenberg received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Wisconsin and in 1966 was awarded diplomate status in clinical psychology from the American Board of Examiners in Professional Psychology. Nonviolent Communication training evolved from Dr. Rosenberg’s quest to find a way of rapidly disseminating much needed peacemaking skills. Worldwide reactions have been inspiring. Evaluations indicate that this training vastly strengthens the ability to connect compassionately with oneself and others, as well as to resolve differences peacefully. Reports also indicate that the benefit of the training is not only stable over time, but actually increases. Dr. Rosenberg has been able to teach individuals to give the training in their own community, work, educational, and political environments, and in their own languages, with the same positive effects. Dr. Rosenberg and his wife Valentina work together in International Intensive Trainings. Click here for Marshall's Bio.
Support Trainer - Martha Lasley
co-founded Leadership that Works, an organization that trains and coaches visionaries. Her passion is integrating NVC, coaching, and organization development. In the Coaching for Transformation program, she designs coach training programs to ignite transformation. She coaches leaders and social change activists to develop a culture of collaboration and partnership. With Miki Kashtan, she offers a year-long program, Making Collaboration Real: Empowering the workplace with NVC. She has presented several programs at the annual conference for International Association of Facilitators, including “Facilitating Difficult Conversations,” and “Coaching for Personal & Organizational Transformation.” She has written two books: Facilitating with Heart and Courageous Visions. As a board member for the Center for Collaborative Communication, she works to build the NVC community and create the tipping point that will make NVC available to everyone globally.
Support Trainer - Dow Gordon
Dow Gordon writes: While awaiting trial in 1995, and then later in prison, I stepped onto a spiritual path (mindfulness practice), primarily as a rebellious response to living in circumstances where I was largely powerless. Over time this self-awareness and centering practice allowed me to begin seeing who I really am; rather than what I thought I was. In 1999 at a Monroe, WA prison, Lucy Leu introduced me to NVC. From the beginning, NVC has expanded and enhanced my connection to myself and others. Mindfulness practice, NVC and the Freedom Project enable me to contribute to and share in a world I never imagined existed -- a homeland where I am free to embrace all of who I am and experience an enduring gratitude for my human family. It is within that ‘spiritual space’ toward which NVC points us, which includes and embraces the interconnectedness of all people, where trainings become most inspiring. When people experience an enhanced sense of safety, acceptance and inclusion, they are much more likely to connect with the consciousness of NVC, rather than simply the intellectual model. After working for years with Freedom Project, a project of CNVC, I have a strong and growing intention to take what I’ve learned from others, and from sharing NVC and mindfulness practice in prisons, and offer that into more effective training for our larger community. I am reflecting deeply on how my learning from prison work can be translated into forms useful for people who have never experienced prisons.
