Robert Gonzales LEAD TRAINER: Robert Gonzales
Robert’s passion is in the spirituality of compassionate communication. He sees compassionate communication both as a process that helps us connect more authentically with ourselves and others, and as a spiritual practice and a way of living.

Robert Gonzales received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1989. He met Marshall Rosenberg and Nonviolent Communication in 1985, and has been offering Nonviolent Communication training in some form since 1986. His original training is as a licensed psychotherapist.

Robert has offered Nonviolent Communication training for community colleges, high schools, churches, social workers, psychologists, mediators, teenagers and public groups. He has taught psychology, counseling and communication at Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona. In June 2000, he established the Prescott Center for Nonviolent Communication.

Woodbrooke is Europe’s only Quaker Study Centre. An oasis of tranquility 15 minutes from the city centre - acres of Quaker-run gardens, comfortable bedrooms, delightful people. A pleasure to find ten tranquil acres (woodlands, lawns, lake and walled garden) so close to the centre of Birmingham – run by such special people. This impressive Georgian mansion was donated by George Cadbury to the Quakers in 1903, as a place for study and contemplation. And so it remains. There are corridors aplenty and public rooms big and small: a library, a silent room, a lovely new garden lounge, and a dining hall where organic buffet meals feature fruit and veg from the grounds. Bedrooms, spread over several buildings, are carpeted, comfortable, light and airy - Welcoming, nurturing, historic! See map:

Travel: The nearest airport is Birmingham International. It takes between 10 and 20 minutes from Birmingham International train station to reach Birmingham New Street depending on which train you take. From there, you can get a local train to Selly Oak, a taxi or bus to Woodbrooke.
