I don`t know if the poll is in CNVC context or in general, but I am using Google translate more and more for French and Dutch translations. It is not as accurate as human translation of course, but for main European languages and for everyday purpose (like a letter from the police; bank etc.) it produces quite sufficient results. I tried it for my own language (Turkish) but the result was rather poor though!
For me, it's very very helping that there is a automatic translation. I do not read english fluently and this asks me a big concentration to understand a text, and therefore to have really time in front of me. Because of I have'nt offen this time, I thought I cannot have access to the site of CNVC. With automatic translation, I know that even if I have just few minutes, if I search something, I can find it on the site and understand a big part of what is said, even if it'nt perfect.
I have written in French. I am going to use an automatic translator to translate my text, I hope that it will be understoud in English.
And thanks to all those who manage the translations. I appreciate really, because this helps to create link within international network.
I feel that better translations are made by people who are well familiar with the author's work, and shares his views. Thus, nothing better than the work read in the original language in which it was written.
However, for many parts of each paragraph, Google translations are good enough to have a good idea on what was meant to be understood.
I completely agree that people who are familiar with the author's works provide the best translations. Our plan is to have all the pages translated by human translators into English, French, German and Spanish.
