Empathy is one of the most important needs that we humans have – to be able to share our joys and sorrows with another person and know that they have been received and understood. NVC makes a huge contribution to the understanding and practice of empathy.

On this intermediate level NVC training day we will explore the theme of empathy more deeply. Themes covered will include:
– Self-empathy meditation
– How we connect with ourselves when we make mistakes, exploring and practicing the concepts and dynamics of the ‘inner educator’ and ‘inner chooser’ as defined by Marshall Rosenberg.
– Typical responses to others that aren’t empathic.
– Empathy collision, which occurs when we and another are in pain to the extent that neither of us is able to hear or empathise with the other person. We will look at ways you can remedy this situation.

This training will be facilitated by Daren De Witt. Daren has been living and practicing NVC since the year 2000. Daren trained extensively with Marshall Rosenberg, the creator of NVC, between the years 2000-2006. He has been a certified trainer with the Centre for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) since 2003, and has run NVC trainings regularly in London since that time. As well as sharing his understanding of Marshall’s approach to the themes of this workshop, Daren will also share with you the fruits of his many years of NVC learning, practice and reflection.

“Daren provided the best demonstration I have seen and was highly instructional.” – A Peacock, Foundation training, April 2017

“Daren was clear, compassionate & knowledgeable. His passion for NVC really came across. I felt he really cared for us.” – R Lalor, Foundation training, March 2013
