Details

Acting a third party is an opportunity to lend your communication skills to other in moments when they need it. “Sticking your nose into other people’s business” – doing informal mediation is a way to test your own skill and where you still need to practice, gain clarity or grow in empathy. In this intense training you will have a chance to learn, experience and practise mediation skills. A very practical training based on learning mediation skills.
A Helping Hand
We offer a intensive training with a lot of practice opportunity. You might want to come to deepen your skills in mediation or get enough mediation skills to get started in giving a helping hand whenever needed. There will also be an opportunity to learn how to teach mediation skills to others.
Every day will contain mediation practice, mediators- selfcare and chances to ask and explore questions. We will cover informal as well as formal mediation, how to transform enemy images, shuttle mediation between hostile groups, inner mediation (inner chooser/educator practice etc) deepening empathy, how clarity on key differentiations can contribute to knowing how and when to intervene as a mediator and shame & mediation.
The training is partly based on the book by Liv Larsson A Helping Hand (available in Swedish, German, English, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Finnish). We recommend you to read the book as part of your preparation for the training.
Training will be conducted in simple English, practice in smaller groups in other languages possible during training.
We want you to have at least 9 days of NVC-training before this event. We also suggest that you read the book A Helping Hand, Mediation with Nonviolent Communication by Liv Larsson.
(If you believe you would benefit from this training without the 9 days of training, maybe because you work as a mediator, please contact us before applying, so that we can decide about this together.)
