Details

This series of interactive webinars presents intellectual and experiential opportunities, for you to deepen your understanding of empathy, as a way of behaving and communicating with young children.

The content of the material presented is inspired by Nonviolent Communication (the work of Dr Marshall Rosenberg), High/Scope, Alfie Kohn, Daniel Seigal and many other educationalists, philosophers and neuroscientists.

Aristotle the Greek philosopher says:

Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all!

My experience personally and professionally over the past 30 years, has taught me that empathy alongside an understanding of neuroscience, human development and nonviolent communication, has a significant impact on our emotional wellbeing and ability to learn.

It’s quite obvious that human beings who are nurtured with love and care, are naturally more adept at kindness, decision making, resilience and cooperation.

We reflect on our interactions and teaching strategies. Being mindful of the system and the challenges that arise, we consider the impact of power dynamics, punishment, reward systems, competition and labelling.

We review the way that empathetic practices can foster a culture of peace.

These sessions are for those working in early years settings and schools. For those wanting an introduction to what empathy looks and feels like in education and home environments.
