General Policy
This is the website for The Center for Nonviolent Communication. CNVC is firmly committed to internet privacy. The type and amount of information we receive depends on how you use the site. This page describes the information gathering and usage practices for this website.
The Center for Nonviolent Communication reserves the right to modify the information contained on this site at anytime without notice. This site and all information and materials on it are provided to you “as is” without warranty of any kind.
Typical Website Visit
You can visit most portions of CNVC’s website without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. The only information our statistics service collects during a typical website visit is the name of your Internet Service Provider/IP address, the browser and type of machine you are using, your operating system and version, the website that referred you to us, the pages you request and the date and time of those requests.
This information is used for internal review only and is not shared with third parties. We generate statistics and measure site activity to improve the usefulness of the site to our visitors. For example, we track which pages are most popular among visitors as a whole. We do not collect any other information without the visitor’s knowledge and permission.
During a typical website visit, we do not collect or store personally identifiable information such as name, mailing address, email address, or phone number of the visitor.
Outside Links
This site contains hypertext links to other sites. The Center for Nonviolent Communication is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites, nor does the Center endorse any sites.
Collection of Personally Identifiable Information
There are instances where CNVC requests personally identifiable information to provide you with services or correspondence. This information is collected and stored by CNVC in a manner appropriate to the nature of the data and is used to fulfill your request.
egroups
The egroups listed on this website are run by people interested in sharing NVC. The opinions expressed on them do not necessarily reflect the opinions/policies of CNVC. While CNVC does not share or sell egroup contact information, the members of each email group may have access to email addresses of other members. CNVC is not responsible for how that information is used.
cnvc mailing list
To be placed on the CNVC mailing list, CNVC will need your name and complete postal address. You will then receive the annual CNVC printed newsletter (and possibly other mailings about NVC activities) which, other than this website and the “FriendsofNVC” email group, is how the Center announces its activities. CNVC has a policy of never sharing, selling, or giving its mailing lists to other organizations or people. And, of course, you can ask to be removed at any time by contacting CNVC.
The CNVC mailing list is made available to certified trainers and organizers of Marshall B. Rosenberg’s trainings at their request and only for their geographic region. You may opt out by removing yourself from the CNVC mailing list. To do that, send your request to CNVC at email cnvc or write
The Center for Nonviolent Communication

and ask to be removed.
local nvc supporters and others
Some people are asked to share their contact information with the Center. These include people who want to be local NVC supporters, local nvc groups or local nvc websites, as well as certified trainers, organizers, board members, educational materials committee members, finance committee members, fund raising committee members, schedulers, cnvc staff, international project coordinator, executive director of the center, director of educational services, webmasters, project coordinators, and inside:cnvc administrators.
Information collected includes name, postal address, email address, telephone numbers, and website address. This information is available only to CNVC staff, is used as necessary to run the CNVC organization, and is never shared, sold, or given to another organization or person.
There are two levels of access for a person’s contact information. The CNVC staff has access to all volunteer contact information. That’s the first level.
The second level is for the general public. CNVC does not make personal contact information available to the general public for an individual without the individual’s consent. Contact information for people in certain positions (certified trainers, local nvc supporters, board members, and local nvc groups and websites) is shown to the general public ONLY if the person has indicated that she or he is willing to be listed and has specified the information she or he wants shared with the public.
