Course Description: 

A 20-Hour Level II Course in Nonviolent Communication(sm)

Speak with authenticity, honesty, empowerment, and choice!

Who might be interested in this course? Anyone who wants to:
• Deepen the fluency and ease of their NVC practice
• Take a “hands-on,” kinesthetic approach to learning NVC
• Further self-awareness, connection, empowerment and choice!

When: (3) Sundays, Nov. 11th, Nov. 18th and Dec. 2nd, from 11am-6pm
Where: JCC, 334 Amsterdam Avenue at West 76th Street, NY, NY (By subway, 2,3, or 9 to 76th St.; by bus, M7 or M11)
Sliding scale fee: $350-$550 (with a median of $450)

Course Description: 

Presents the concepts and tools used in NVC. Introduces you to the steps of the NVC process for use in expressing yourself to others, listening to others and listening compassionately to yourself. Will give you sufficient information and practice to start using NVC in daily life. Is run in an experiential style working with examples from participant's lives. Is challenging, moving, supportive and fun.

Deep empathic listening is about presence. Learn how to listen to the heart of another without trying to fix, console, advise, educate, sympathize or shut down. You will have the opportunity to both give and receive empathy by placing your full attention on another. This will be very interactive working with examples and situations from participants’ lives. We will practice and coaching will be available

When we're angry three things are happening: 1) We're upset because we are not getting what we want. 2) We're blaming someone or something for us not getting what we want. 3) We're about to speak or act in such a way that will most probably guarantee that we will not get what we want. Learn how to change this pattern and connect with the life serving purpose of anger. Discover where anger comes from and learn how to express it and receive it in a way that you and others can enjoy using Nonviolent Communication and Self-Empathy

This event is B.Y.O.C.(Bring your own conflict) or just observe others working with their challenging situations & difficult people if you don't have ones you are willing to work on during the workshop. This workshop will be lively & provide practical, learnable tools for communicating in a way that values everyone's needs using games & exercises developed in work with teens, prisoners, with individuals, couples, and in organizations. Participants will be invited to choose to practice and/or observe at their own level of safety/risk in a supportive & nurturing environment.
