2018 Costa Rica IIT

Costa Rica, October 12 - 21, 2018

Program: This International Intensive Training (IIT) is a 9-day, Nonviolent Communication “immersion experience.” It is a residential workshop led by a team of experienced CNVC certified trainers.

The purpose of this IIT training is to offer people the opportunity to live the process of Nonviolent Communication in community over an extended period of time, in order to develop Nonviolent Communication knowledge, skills and consciousness.

Seminar Language: English, with Spanish translation (still confirming).

Liv LarssonTrainer: Liv Larsson
is Certified Trainer with CNVC since 2002. She has worked as a coach, mediator and workshop leader since 1992. Liv has written 18 books on the theme of NVC, for adults and children, translated to different languages.The titles include Anger Guilt and Shame - Reclaiming Power and Choice, A Helping Hand- Mediation with Nonviolent Communication and Cracking the NVC Code.

She lives in the north of Sweden and one of her contracts as a mediator is for Swedish FSC - Forest Stewardess Council - mediating between the indigenous group of Sweden - the Same - and the biggest forest companies in Sweden as well as mining companies.

Liv has been sharing her special way of teaching mediation skills to many different groups - from UN mediators to social workers and parents and has been leading mediation trainings in Australia, Europe and Asia. One of here special skills and areas of interest is how shame is affecting both the mediator and the parties in a mediation. Her passions are cross-country skiing, hiking, swimming, yoga, nature, her son, writing and connecting with people.

Raj GillTrainer: Raj Gill

Raj is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach and CNVC Certified Trainer. After she transitioned out of a career in health care she launched a Training and Development Company, Prosperity Circles Coaching International to provide coaching, mediation and trainings in communication, Emotional Intelligence and Inclusive Leadership to audiences worldwide. She is a founding member of Freedom Project Canada offering NVC in prisons and the Experiential Leadership Initiative. A 4 year collaboration with Judi Morin and Lucy Leu provided many opportunities to learn and they published the Nonviolent Communication Toolkit for Facilitators. She developed Compassionate Communication curricula and manuals for a variety of organizations, including the Cowichan Intercultural Society, Community Colleges, Correctional Service of Canada and Relationship-Based Classroom Management for teachers throughout Latin America. she enjoys working with people to co-create a motivational and supportive environment for managing the human aspect of growth and development. She is a strong believer in the power of human connection and compassion for resolving conflict and creating universal success This belief has taken her to North America, Latin America, Nunavut, Africa, Ireland, and beyond, in settings of higher education, prisons, religious communities and boardrooms. Her experiences and skills gained working alongside Marshall Rosenberg are gifts that keep manifesting in her personal and professional life. She recently adjusted her work schedule to include much more playtime with her much loved grandsons. She looks forward to welcoming you and sharing Nonviolent Communication in community.


Ian PeateyTrainer: Ian Peatey was born in the UK and now lives in Bucharest, Romania with his daughter, wife and black Labrador. He also lived in Poland for many years, playing a part in the rapid growth of NVC awareness there. Together with Monica (his wife - also a Certified Trainer), he runs the Romanian Association for NVC which aims to be the focal point for bringing NVC to Romania.

Ian’s background is originally in the corporate world where he worked in financial audit and HR before embarking on a radical change of direction after discovering NVC in 2001. He was certified as a CNVC trainer in 2008 and integrates NVC into his business training, facilitation and coaching as well as offering NVC programs in personal development and for couples and parents. He is also a Solution Focus coach and a team coach for the Romanian part of the Team Academy network of ‘alternative’ educational approaches.

In his work he seeks to combine the transformational quality of NVC with the pragmatic and, despite their popularity, resolutely refuses to use puppets in his workshops. Though some close to him might disagree, he is also known for his humour!

David ShindollTrainer: David Shindoll:  David holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Colorado College and a master’s degree in education from Loyola University. David has been studying NVC since 1999 and became a certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication in 2010. In 2009, David co-founded the Rocky Mountain Compassionate Communication Network. David has worked with children and their families for over 25 years in a variety of contexts from villages for abandoned children in Costa Rica, to Montessori schools in Taiwan, Bolivia, and the United States. David has been a teacher trainer in language at the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies and currently works with 1st graders as a literacy interventionist. David lives with his wife and daughter in Denver, Colorado. David’s passions include yoga, reading, being in nature, contributing to children and their families, and exploring how to live life from presence, truth, and compassion.
