Basic Information Sheet (BIS)



Program: This International Intensive Training (IIT) is a 9-day, Nonviolent Communication "immersion experience." It is a residential workshop led by a team of experienced CNVC certified trainers. The purpose of this IIT training is to offer people the opportunity to live the process of Nonviolent Communication in community over an extended period of time, in order to develop Nonviolent Communication knowledge, skills and consciousness.

Seminar languages: English with german translation if needed.

Gabriele Grunt Trainer - Mag. Gabriele Grunt studied culture and social anthropologies (key aspect stranger and enemy images, cooperative learning, online-cooperation), trainer in adult education since 1992, two children, intensive learning of NVC since 2006 and restorative justice since 2010. Key aspects: NVC in the whole live – don’t be nice, be real!, strong conflict systems in organizations and communities, appreciative organization leading, for teams and organizations: mediation, conflict culture, restorative justice, restorative dialogue (peace circles, restorative circles), kindergardens, schools, universities (trainings, project development and supervision), parents as all people who live and work with children, stress, strong emotions, trauma – NVC and body work (tension/trauma release exercises – TRE), engaged in the NVC network in Austria.


Klaus Karst├Ądt Trainer - Klaus Karstädt is a freelance trainer since 1988 in adult education, and even before his encounter with Nonviolent Communication in 1996, he led train the trainer courses and seminars on communication and conflict management in organizations. Since 2000 he has worked together with Marshall Rosenberg as a certified trainer in more than 10 CNVC International Intensive Trainings and three years as a board member of CNVC. In addition to the spread of Nonviolent Communication in companies, schools, hospitals and other social institutions, his passion is in the area of training trainers and coaches. People like his clarity and his ability to combine structure and heart.


Trainer: Catherine Cadden is an educator, storyteller, and dancer with over 30 years of experience in bringing innovative programs in nonviolence, mindfulness, and conflict transformation to people of all ages, on six continents. In 1997, she founded the TEMBA School, a visionary K­–8 academic program which integrated nonviolent principles, mindfulness, art, and peace studies. In 2006, Catherine co-founded Play in the Wild! Initiations into Nonviolence for youth, families, and educators. In 2016, Play in the Wild! partnered with Vermont Refuge Resettlement Program to establish Crossroads: Where Cultures Meet. Through this program Catherine trains mentors to support teenagers who have just immigrated to the United States. This program offers a unique approach to dismantle systems of racism and sexism. Internationally recognized for her work, Catherine was a keynote speaker at the UNESCO Asia Pacific Education conference in 2012. Her work with her indigenous roots, elders, and teachers taught her to live interdependently with nature, which she shares with all who are willing to learn. She is a Center for Nonviolent Communication Certified Trainer and the author of Peaceable Revolution Through Education and the OngoBook: Everyday Nonviolence. Find out more here

Assessor onsite Deborah Bellamy: based in Vienna as a freelance communication consultant works as a coach and trainer in Austria and Eastern and Western Europe. Her area of training/coaching is in companies, Institutions, couples and individuals. She is a certified trainer for Nonviolent Communication since 2003 and joined the Assessor team in 2012 to contribute candidates on their certification process to pass on the integrity of NVC to the best of her abilities. In her trainings, coaching sessions and consultations, she applies both conventional and less conventional methods additionally to NVC such as art, music, dance, humor. More find here:

The conference house is located in the famous city of Salzburg, one of the most beautiful cities of Austria. It is located at the foot of the Salzburger Hausberge of the Northern Alps and embedded in a 45,000 m² park. The conference house St. Virgil is a place to breathe. All rooms have a beautiful view into the green, equipped with small balcony, shower / WC, internet and a cozy reading place. Biological, regional and seasonal cuisine. Sightseeing Tour Wednesday afternoon is planned.

Travel: Salzburg has an international airport. Moreover Salzburg is located at the railway line from Munich (Germany) to Vienna (Austria). Please take from the airport or the train station bus or taxi to the venue. Participants are asked to wait until their registration in the IIT has been confirmed before booking travel reservations.

Fee: Total IIT Fees consists of a tuition fee (payable in US Dollars to CNVC or in Euro to DACH *) and accommodation fee (payable in Euro to the venue) - as outlined in the table below.

All rooms with private bath. Prices including meals. The venue offers vegetarian and non-vegetarian (meals with meat) options. Please indicate your choice in the IIT application form.

Prices for motor homes: 420 Euro per person + 20 Euro per day for electricity. There is a capacity for 3 motor homes. No camping with tents possible. Beds capacity: 18 double rooms, 33 single rooms, 2 more (4) beds rooms, 28 rooms more are in the guest house in 2 minutes walking distance. Placing of the rooms according to the arrival of the applications.
