Word Formatting Code - How to get rid of them.
Description:
Instructions to remove unwanted MS Word formatting code after pasting into a web document.
Download the Adobe Acrobat file below for illustrated directions.
Sometimes when we copy from a Word document into a form on the web site we get unwanted formatting code. This seems to happen most when using Fire Fox, and not so much when we are using Safari Internet Explorer.
Here is what happens. You paste from word into the web form, and it looks good.
But when you save and view the page, strange formatting code shows up and goes on and on before you see the words you pasted from Word.
One option, if this is happening to you, is to copy and past your text into a text editor like Notepad, then copy from there to the web page. This gets rid of all formatting. If you would like to keep the formatting, and just loose the unwanted code, follow the instructions below.
1) Edit the document.
2) And click on the HTML button in the Rich Text Box
This will bring up the html editor.3) Select the text, starting at the top until you get to the statement. There can be lots and lots of it, so be patient. Then delete the selected text.
4) Then click the Update button which will close the html edit window and take you back to the page.
5) Then click the Submit button to save the document.
That will get rid of it.
