This Practice Group begins with a "remembering" for inspiration, centering and connecting with ourselves. This is followed by a "check-in" when we share how we are, what we bring with us or what we hope to receive during the session. Activities include: short education exercises, empathy, role-plays, games and discussions. Participants can facilitate the group with prior arrangement with Rodger Sorrow

NVC enables us to connect empathically with other people, and helps us
to help them to connect empathically with us. But what do you do when
you are feeling angry or upset to the extent that you don't want to
empathise with them? And they feel the same about you?! We call this
empathy collision, and on this day we will explore what is happening in
these situations and how we can get around this impasse. This day will
be practice oriented, to help you develop and rejuvenate your skill
with NVC.

• Knowing how to ask for support and make requests that will truly meet your needs?

• Saying “no” in a connected, empowered, and authentic way?

Via exercises, role-plays & the practice of Compassionate, Nonviolent Communication, in this
workshop you will take the first steps in:
• Connecting with your body to gain valuable information about what meets your needs
• Learning how to say “no” with authenticity, honesty and connection
• Getting clarity—with clear steps—about what will meet your needs in 2008!
• Forming clear requests of others to support your needs being met

Foundation skills taught in an experiential format to develop effective communication based on compassion and understanding. Compassionate Communication skills are effective in relationships with family members of all ages, community groups, strangers, oneself and in the work place.
