Order, Meaning and Peace: The Gifts of a New Year

A New Year!  I'm feeling excited and hopeful.  I love the first day of the year.  My need for order gets a lot of attention on this day, which provides me so much ease and peace in my day-to-day life.

New also represents a break with the past to me.  It means that I get to try again.  This has deep meaning for me on a personal level, but also as I look at the whole world around me.  We get to try again to realize how people can live together on this planet in a way that gives value to the needs of all.

This year my day of reorganizing and re-visioning has an added dimension:  we had our floors finished and to do that removed our furniture.  As each item is returned we will consider whether the old placement is the best or if we want to perhaps replace the item.  This is symbolic to me of what I do at the New Year with myself.  Re-examining myself and how I live my daily life is such fun and so meaningful.

NVC has given me a way to examine and place things to get the maximum amount of fulfillment by carefully examining my strategies and whether they are, in fact, meeting my needs.  I feel a deep gratitude to Marshall and to all the wonderful trainers with whom I've studied for the peace that comes with knowing how to go about meeting the deep longings and urges that lie within me.

Namaste!
