Blind Date with my Broken Heart

Oh she smells good, fresh and free of baggage, which is of course a fragrance infused with my wishful thinking, but I'll savour it anyway.

A year ago I decided to take a year off from relationships and dating.  I had just turned forty and another relationship had failed to save me from my wounds and from whatever inner work I needed to do to attend to those wounds.

Not long after that relationship ended I was meditating in a large circular room in a forest on an Island off the coast of Seattle when a geyser of emotion erupted from some old pipes in the cellar of my psyche.  I cried and yelled, sobbed and roared.  Anger and sorrow took turns flushing and scrubbing and wringing me out.  It felt like more than just the grieving of the ending of a relationship; it felt like an all-you-can-grieve special.

COMUNICACIÓN COMPASIVA Y CON EMPATÍA

In the middle of Nowhere

Hello to all that have found me!   I am in North Carolina in the middle of nowhere!  Literally....   But that doesn't stop the need to learn how to communicate with compassion and love instead of violence.   I have done a search by state and have found 3 other NVC groups in North Carolina.  All 3 are several hours away from where I am, so sadly, I do not see me attending meetings with these groups.   For now, I will study, read and slowly become familiar with the NVC program.   I hope as time progresses, I will find more people that want to join me in this wonderful opportunity.   If you have found my blog, perhaps you are in the middle of "Nowhere, NC" as well, and a group can be started here?   Thank you so much!  Peace and Love,  Abby

If I look rather intense, I think it was the crying that I was doing. With love and respect, Shantigarbha

Een andere kijk

Persoonlijk verhaal over hoe Geweldloze Communicatie me in de afgelopen bewogen weken heeft ondersteund.

Ik wil graag met jullie delen wat er de afgelopen periode met
me is gebeurd. Reden is dat ik twee weken in het ziekenhuis
heb gelegen, een maand uit de running ben geweest en veel en
intense gevoelens heb ervaren.
Daarna
waren er nog twee hersteloperaties nodig. Inmiddels is de situatie
gestabiliseerd en heb ik weer energie om mijn werk op te pakken.

Parents - Do you put your oxygen mask on first in life?

Watch my interview with co-author of Respectful Parents, Respectful Kids, Victoria Kindle Hodson, who shares why it so important for parents to take care of their needs first, like an oxygen mask on an airplane, to support more fun, connection and ease for families.

The long term benefits of this parenting style creates co-operation vs conflict is further explored in the book Respectful Parents, Respectful Kids.

I want to be a respectful parent and raise respectful kids...

Improving all my relationships is a personal goal and I sought help from the authors of Respectful Parents, Respectful Kids Sura Hart and Victoria Kindle Hodson.

They have identified 7 keys in their book to stop the struggle and learn to:

Express yourself so you're heard and respected.
Successfully handle disagreements or problem behaviors.
Motivate your kids to willingly contribute.
Set clear limits without using demand or coercion.
Empower your kids to open up, co-operate, and realize their full potential.
And create outstanding, lifelong relationship with your kids!
