This Practice Group begins with a "remembering" for inspiration, centering and connecting with ourselves. This is followed by a "check-in" when we share how we are, what we bring with us or what we hope to receive during the session. Activities include: short education exercises, empathy, role-plays, games and discussions. Participants can facilitate the group with prior arrangement with Rodger Sorrow

This course is for coaches, counselors, therapists, facilitators, mediators and anyone else who wishes to support personal and group development. The best way to create space for transformation is to connect from the heart and offer an empathic presence that calls forth your client's deepest yearning. This course will energize your practice by empowering clients to deepen their needs awareness and take action based on what matters most.

CONTENT -- In this Nonviolent Communication workshop we will learn to:

• Become aware of the internal messages that promote anger.
• Connect and empathize with the unmet needs underlying anger. Thus, transforming this feeling into life-serving energy.
• Increase awareness of triggers, patterns around anger, and attitude toward conflict.
• Devise a safety plan to be utilized when angry.
• Learn meditation as a way to calm the mind and reduce proneness to anger.

Built upon the foundation training on Fri/Sat -- or on participants’ previous NVC experience – utilizing a tool known as the NVC Dance Floors... which are spatial maps made up of large, colored cards laid on the floor in various layouts called ‘dances.’ People practicing NVC stand up and ‘dance’ through the steps of a given process, often with coaching from a trainer or support from another participant. Each dance is designed to help people develop awareness and skills in a particular area of NVC, including dialogues with others in role play format (3 dances) or inner processes (4 dances) like mediating inner conflicts, self-empathy, and transforming anger/guilt/shame/depression | COST: $40/person; $60/2 people registering together

Learn How to Effectively Use Nonviolent CommunicationSM in Workplaces

This first 2 hour course will be a preview for a more in-depth telecourse. Your questions, upon registration with the NVC Academy at nvctraining.com will guide us in the format of this introductory class. Follow-up classes may include the following:

1. Get an in-depth interactive introduction to the combined NVC/Integrated Clarity™ (IC) business transformation framework – what Marshall Rosenberg called, “the missing link” to establishing NVC in workplaces;
2. Learn case studies and how to work with IC’s six universal organization needs that combine with human needs to create compassionate organizations that “profit with people, not from them;”
3. Apply the IC process to any business or nonprofit including your own;

4. Connect with other NVC colleagues interested in humanizing workplaces.

Inner-outer congruence is key to being an effective leader. When your vision emerges from a place of deep presence and purpose, and strategies are in alignment with values, then trust is built and power is created with other people. NVC supports inner-outer congruence. Much more than a communication model, NVC is an integration of consciousness, language, thought, communication and strategies of influence. When understood at all these levels, NVC gives rise to power and possibility that can transform our effectiveness in the world. This course will use the following books:
Presence- Senge, Scharmer, Jaworski, Flowers, Synchronicity-Jaworski, Leadership and the New Science-Wheatley, Practicing Servant Leadership- Spears and Lawrence, editors, Theory U: Leading From the Future as It Emerges-Scharmer.

NVC enables us to connect empathically with other people, and helps us
to help them to connect empathically with us. But what do you do when
you are feeling angry or upset to the extent that you don't want to
empathise with them? And they feel the same about you?! We call this
empathy collision, and on this day we will explore what is happening in
these situations and how we can get around this impasse. This day will
be practice oriented, to help you develop and rejuvenate your skill
with NVC.
