Create Your Community
To Further Your Learning and Create a Community
This is a "foreign language" and getting together with others for practice has been a powerful process for many in our community. Deep and lasting friendships are a happy outcome for many.
(1) Get together a group of people who are interested in learning and practicing together. The workbook is set up for a self-led practice group and to accompany Marshall Rosenberg’s book. You can start an open group with friends or co-workers, or a specialized group such as couples, people who are working toward social change, a religious community, etc.
For example, parents may want to form a practice group with members of your children’s play group, school, or other parents with whom you come into regular contact. Creating a supportive group of people who are also interested in using NVC in their parenting can make a huge difference in your ability to put NVC into practice.
(2) Together, purchase audio tapes and/or video tapes that you could listen to or watch together and use for practice. Some people watch a small section of a video and then practice based on what they’ve just learned.
(3) If your interest in NVC grows, consider working together to invite a trainer to your area. We know of hundreds of groups that started this way and now sponsor dozens of trainings for their area a year. For further information on this option, contact any trainer or the cnvc office.
