CNVC Projects Overview
Geographic Projects:
Geographic Projects are initiated by the Center for Nonviolent Communication to create national teams capable of offering Nonviolent Communication training in countries within that area of the world. At present we have four such projects in operation:
(1) African Project coordinated by Dunia Hategekimana, includes Burundi, Congo, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and other countries.
(2) Eastern European Project coordinated by Éva Rambala, takes NVC into Poland, Russia, Hungary, Bosnia, Muldova, and Georgia, among others.
(3) Lusophone Project, coordinated by Dominic Barter, facilitates access to NVC in Lusophone—or Portuguese speaking—communities worldwide, including Brazil, Angola,Timor Leste, Portugal and beyond.
(4) South Asia Project coordinated by Father Chris Rajendram, includes NVC activities in India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
(5) Women’s Project in Nagpur, India is dedicated toward establishing NVC consciousness between Dalit and Muslim women in India. We are bringing NVC trainings to India in order to change the community so that all are equally respected as human beings, where women are discriminated against as well as a class of people referred to as “untouchables”. The Women’s Project is dedicated to providing NVC training to these women, and also a safe house where they can go to receive empathy and practice Nonviolent Communication
Theme Projects:
Theme projects are initiated by the Center for Nonviolent Communication to create specialized Nonviolent Communication training programs which focus on certain areas of application. These are some of our theme projects:
(1) Freedom project provides NVC training to prison inmates and those who have been released, supporting the transformation of prisoners into peacemakers.
(2) Parenting project coordinated by Inbal Kashtan focuses on creating a space for children to grow up acting out of joyful choice instead of guilt, shame, obligation, fear of consequences or desire for reward.
(3) Social change project Using the social change email forum, many are supporting each other, networking, exchanging information and opportunities to share our vision of a world where everyone's needs matter. Is currently seeking a coordinator.
(4) Global Community Project Objective: To support the world-wide sharing of information to enhance our effectiveness as an NVC community in living and sharing NVC collaboratively and using it to create life-serving systems.
(5) Nonviolent Communication in Schools Nonviolent Communication training and practice in school communities helps teachers, administrators, students, and parents to make school a place where students love to learn, teachers love to teach, and where parents feel confident that their children’s needs—for safety, respect, and learning—can be met.
(6) NVC Research A growing body of research reports, academic communications and publications on Nonviolent Communication is available for you to read.
(7) The CNVC Restorative Justice Project aims to support dialogue and mutual learning between the NVC and RJ communities, in the service of developing compassionate justice systems and effective means for increasing community safety.
