who we are |

"Violence in any form is a tragic expression of our unmet needs."
Marshall B. Rosenberg, PhD

The Center for Nonviolent Communication is a global organization that supports the learning and sharing of NVC, and helps people peacefully and effectively resolve conflicts in personal, organizational, and political settings.

CNVC is a steward of the integrity of the NVC process and a nexus point of NVC-related information and resources, including training, conflict resolution, and organizational consulting services. CNVC’s mission is to contribute to more sustainable, compassionate, and “life-serving” human relations in the realms of both personal relationship and social systems and structures, such as business/economics, education, justice, healthcare, and peace-keeping. NVC work is being done in over 65 countries and growing, touching the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world

Vision

The Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) pursues the vision of a world in which

  • everyone values everyone's basic human needs and lives from a  consciousness that connects with the divine life energy and natural
    oneness of all life.
  • where people joyfully and compassionately contribute to each other and resolve conflicts peacefully.
  • where the systems and structures we create in economics, education, justice, healthcare, peace-keeping and other areas across our global interdependent community reflect that consciousness and evaluate their actions against their contribution to life and the human needs they ultimately serve.

Mission:

Our mission is to contribute to making that vision a reality by:

  • living and teaching Nonviolent Communication (NVC)
  • engaging in social change efforts
  • providing mediation, consulting and other services
  • creating, helping others create and make available materials that
    support all of the above
  • creating and enabling communities, connection and collaboration
among those who share our vision
  • supporting and enabling other individuals and organizations to do
    all of the above.
