Public Message:
I share your vision of creating a financially viable, creative, empowering organizational culture. One where people enjoy coming to work … where people voice their ideas, their suggestions, their concerns … where their deepest personal values thrive … where everyone has a focus on and commitment to the mission at hand … where each person grows to be more competent, more self-reliant, healthier, more autonomous. In my own quest for such an organization as a business owner and manager for over 20 years, I have found that communication skills are essential in realizing this vision.
In a nutshell, we focus on the human elements of organizations-- enhancing relationships among staff, between staff & management, between the company & its clients and other constituents. At the simplest level, we focus on teaching tangible communication skills so that people within the organization are able to avoid the types of communication & thinking that leads toward alienation (e.g. blame, criticism, demands) and to learn a communication process that is most likely to connect people and inspire trust & a willingness to contribute. At the core of this process is empathy, authenticity, appreciation for diversity, and mutual respect for all involved.
At a more advanced level, we seek to empower the people within an organization by transforming leadership from “control & compliance” to trust & accountability—essentially a shift from “power-over” others to “power-with” others.
By focusing on connection (communication that connects people), authenticity (bringing your values to work), interdependence (valuing the needs of all constituents), and solidarity (redefining leadership as “power-with”), Basileia’s training programs & related services in Needs-based Communication and Dynamic Governance will greatly contribute to the fulfillment of an organization where people thrive.
Warmly,
