Course Description:

This 6- to 12-hour class introduces key concepts, processes and experiences of Nonviolent Communication (NVC). We’ll
explore the key premises & concepts of NVC, experience the empathic
connection, see the process modeled, role play your personal
situations, and practice the process through exercises.

Designed for those
new to NVC, you will have the opportunity to see firsthand how NVC
gives us the tools to connect compassionately to ourselves as well as
others—even if the other person is communicating through judgments,
criticisms, demands, threats, etc. You’ll have the opportunity to
practice & develop your skills, to hone your ability to create
observations free of evaluations, to express feelings free from
thoughts, to own your feelings rather than blame another for them, to
let others own their feelings rather than take responsibility for them,
to distinguish our fundamental needs from the strategies we use to
fulfill them.

Throughout the day,
we’ll strive to live the process, not just talk about it. We’ll focus
on vulnerably expressing what is alive in ourselves, and on
empathically connecting to what is alive in others. The events of the
day are designed to deepen your awareness, your skills and your
consciousness of NVC.
