You will learn how to:

* express yourself honestly and openly;

* hear difficult messages without taking them personally;

* connect with others by communicating empathy; and

* find the gift that underlies all blame, judgment and criticism.

INTERMEDIATE TRAINING: "Beyond the Mechanics of NVC: Finding the Key to Compassionate Connection"

DATES/TIME: Sunday, September 7, 2008 (9:30 am - 5:30 pm)

PARTICIPANTS: Designed for people with some previous NVC experience (such as Friday's Introductory Workshop)

DESCRIPTION: You have Nonviolent Communication in your toolbox. You understand how it works. You even havea few peak experiences that give you hope that it's possible to participate in the world in a satisfying, upliftingand deeply enriching way.

Yet, too often, you become frustrated because you are unable to access it when you need it the most. You mightnotice that you are beating yourself up in a way that creates inner resentment and internal confusion.

Perhaps you see, in hindsight, how you could have interacted with someone in a way that created connection orresolution, yet you weren't able to come from that level of consciousness in the moment ("Why didn't I think ofthat during the interaction?!", you wonder.).

Sunday's session is designed with these challenges in mind, and to help everyone deepen their practice of NVCat the level of both practicality and consciousness. Join us to make NVC more a part of your everyday life -- away of being -- that assists you in transforming whatever patterns of thinking, speaking, and listening thatprevent you from experiencing deeply satisfying relationships and encounters with others.

Topics will include:

* Skillfully using NVC in a natural, conversational way that connects with people, rather than taking them aback;

* Forgiving ourselves when we regret something we did or said;

* Learning from our mistakes through compassion and without losing self-respect; and

* The power of empathy to cut through enemy images and see ourselves and others as one.
