Live From Your Heart: 12-Week Workbook Study & Practice Group (Online via Zoom Video conferencing)

Living from our head allows the “shitty Committee” to run our lives. Their judgments can generate shame, guilt, anger, and even depression. Alternatively, living from our heart supports compassion, connection, love, and clarity about our needs. Learn effective tools to support heart-based living and successfully navigate the “longest distance in the world” from your head to your heart by learning Nonviolent Communication (NVC). NVC teaches you to: - Befriend the “Shitty Committee” so you can deepen connection and compassion for self and others - Learn to express yourself clearly and authentically so you can eliminate regret - Identify choice points so you can respond rather than react - Reduce shame, guilt, anger, depression and overwhelm by finding purpose in your feelings - Create a legacy of healthy relating to your children by modeling healthy communication while reducing conflict - Make decisions with ease and grace This group provides support to learn and practice Nonviolent Communication (NVC) skills, while fostering rich relationships in a safe and supportive online community. Each week, for 6 or 12 weeks, we will read, do exercises, and share experiences, while working with the chapters in two corresponding books**. Foundations I – Live From Your Heart, Part 1 – Covers Chapters 1-6 and involves learning the basic structure and components of the NVC Model, as developed by Marshall Rosenberg, PhD . Chapters 1-6 include the following topics: Giving from the heart, Communication that blocks compassion, Observing without evaluating, Identifying and expressing feelings, Taking responsibility for our feelings, and Requesting that which would enrich life. Foundations II – Live From Your Heart, Part 2 – Builds on Part 1 and covers Chapters 7-13 . We focus on applying the information learned in the first six weeks in our lives and our relationships. Classes may include role-plays, empathy sessions and live interactions, in addition to learning the material in Chapters 7-14. Chapters 7-14 include the following topics: Receiving empathically, The power of empathy, Connecting compassionately with ourselves, Expressing anger fully, Conflict resolution and mediation, The protective use of force, Liberating ourselves and counseling others, and Expressing appreciation in NVC. Live From Your Heart, Foundations Part I is a pre-requisite for this class. Chapters 1-6, will begin on 9/12 and Chapters 7-14 will begin on 10/24.
